Eric Bogosian
Eric Bogosian (Eric Michael Bogosian) was born on April 24th, 1953 and is currently 72 years old. Eric Bogosian was born in Woburn, Massachusetts, USA. Bogosian attended Oberlin College where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree. Eric also attended Oberlin College.
Eric Bogosian is a monologuist, actor, playwright, novelist, and historian. He is best known for playing Captain Danny Ross on
Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
Eric’s interest in the theater developed while he was attending Woburn Memorial High School, and later based his play
subUrbia on his youth spent in Woburn’s Four Corners neighborhood.
Early in his career, he appeared in the music video for “That’s Love” by Jim Capaldi.
When he first arrived in New York, he saw Frank Langella in
Dracula on Broadway. They were in a back row in the balcony yet it felt like he was breathing down Eric’s neck. He loves vampire stuff, especially the eroticism.
Talk Radio was a finalist for the 1987 Pulitzer Prize, but it wound up going to
Driving Miss Daisy by Alfred Uhry. He starred and wrote the film adaptation, for which he won a Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival. He has won the Drama Desk Award and is also a 3 time winner of the Obie Award.
Talk Radio is about Barry Champlain. Now Barry Champlain is a controversial radio host and while on the air he does one thing. Insulting all of the pathetic souls that call in during the middle of the night in order to sound off.
Tomorrow Barry’s show will be going into national syndication and his producer is pretty afraid that Barry’s going to say something that’ll piss the sponsors off or offend them in some way. This obviously makes Barry even more outrageous. Moving, offbeat, outrageous, and funny.
Perforated Heart is set 40 years after Richard Morris (an author) moved to Manhattan. He has achieved an accomplished career and the caliber of fame that he’d envisioned for himself when he was a younger man.
Now much more artistically embittered yet financially comfortable, he’s at home upstate recuperating from his heart surgery and nursing his own resentment at his publisher as well as his readers that have found new, more exciting writers and left his star to wane.
Richard finds a stack of notebooks up in his attic, the journals that he started keeping back when he’d arrived in New York during the late 70s. He’s alternately repelled and fascinated by the young guy that he meets in these pages: egotistically misguided and hilariously naive, the young Richard compulsively absorbs it all around him from creativity and art to drugs and sex. While reading more about himself, written by himself, he finds that all the truly pivotal moments of self-invention, and self-realization, occur well outside of the conventional chronology of a lifetime.
