In 2021, Edward A. Grainger teamed up with Scott Dennis Parker to publish the novella
Cash Laramie and the Sundown Express.
The lead in the novel is outlaw marshal Cash Laramie, who is going after a dangerous gang that has taken hostage the
Sundown Express. Aboard the fastest frontier train, they threaten the passengers' lives unless they are given $100,000.
The gang ensures the train is moving fast to prevent law enforcement from stopping them while holding their hostages, including Lillie Langtry, the actress, who is terrified.
With courage and clever planning, Cash Laramie and Gideon Miles, his partner, might be able to board the speeding train and accomplish one of the most dangerous rescue missions while bringing the gang to justice.
Edward A. Grainger also published a collection of seven frontier stories titled
Adventures of Cash Laramie and Gideon Miles.
The stories are set in the Wyoming Territory during the late 19th century. They follow an African American Marshall named Gideon Miles and his partner Cash Laramie, who would earn the title “Outlaw Marshal” since he had very unorthodox methods of dealing with criminals.
Together, Miles and Laramie roam the frontier, bringing justice to a lawless and rough land where it is almost impossible to tell apart the bad from the good.
The stories combine mystery, adventure, and moral challenges as the marshals solve crimes, track outlaws, and deal with all manner of danger in the Wild West.
