David Bianculli
David Bianculli was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. Bianculli attended the University of Florida where he received a B.S. in Journalism and a an M.A. in Journalism and Communication.
David Bianculli is best known as a TV historian and critic who doubles up as a guest host for
Fresh Air on NPR. He has made a name for himself by doing his research in real-time, as he chronicles the worst and the best that TV has on offer.
Bianculli is employed at the
Department of Radio, Television, and Film at Rowan University where he is a full professor of Television Studies. On several of his special projects, he has often invited Ken Burns the documentarian to speak with his students.
Since David Bianculli loves to collect anything and everything to do with television, he created the show
Bianculli’s Personal Theory of TV Evolution in 2014. He is often asked to speak on documentaries about television and has often been featured on CNN’s long-running series about TV from the 1960s to the 2010s.
David began reviewing TV in 1975 and believes that no one has been a professional TV watcher longer. He has also created the
Diana King Master of Arts in Television Studies, a graduate program in television whose first cohort graduated in 2024.
