I can see myself watching a Kane and Alton TV show in a few years. I don’t watch police procedurals anymore because they are all the same. But every once in a while, a new police procedural will grab my attention because it has a concept I’ve never encountered and characters that fascinate me.
The Kane and Alton series fits that bill. You have a Sheriff and her deputy that are both in witness protection, and they have to use the skills they learned in their previous lives to solve crimes in a new town.
I can’t be the only one that was immediately intrigued by that synopsis. Also, Kane and Alton are engaging characters. I have enjoyed watching their partnership grow.
This is another author on my very short list of “blindly buy” authors. When they say “serial killer central” they are not lying. After 23 books, which they catch at least one serial killer per book, I think they need to put a stop to new residents in that town. Actually I guess it is the surrounding area where these killers pop up, a lot of them living “off the grid”.. The book, “Don’t Look Back” is a prequel to the series. It is Jenna’s back story of why she had to go into witness protection and how she got her ranch.
I usually don’t particularly like books written by English authors because of the difference in the language of the British, but this author doesn’t write about England. Her books are set in Montana, USA. And they are full of forests. Lots of bad things happen in the forest. Lots of psychos run around in these forests. There are also lots of critters in the forest.
