Crissy Smith has a weird name. Or, at the very least, it sounds strange to my ears because I’ve never met anyone named ‘Crissy.’ I don’t remember how I started reading her books. But I know why I stuck with them.

The protagonists are nice. I went through a six-month period during which every YA paranormal novel I read was populated by horrible alpha males and the annoying heroines that had to put up with them.

I think I accidentally stumbled into the wrong subgenre because I wanted to drown every alpha male I came across. And the heroines were only slightly better. As such, seeing the relatively healthy relationships in Crissy’s books was refreshing. I wish other YA paranormal romance authors would pick a leaf from Crissy’s work.
