Charles E. Guess

Charles E. Guess has written one non-fiction book, called Relentless Pursuit and it was released in 2020. There are no upcoming non-fiction books by Charles at this time.

Major Charles E. Guess, now retired, was the Incident Commander at the New York State Police and a member of the Rush-Henrietta 1979 class. Known as "Chuck," he graduated with a Bachelor's in History from SUNY Brockport.

In 2020, he published the book "Relentless Pursuit". It is the story of the dramatic 2015 escape of two convicted killers. They escaped from a maximum security prison in Dannemora, New York.

The chase for the killers lasted 23 days, and many may remember the story as what made it more notable in the media was one prisoner seducing a female prison employee who assisted them in the escape.

The book begins by providing a biography of Charles E. Guess, including his time in the military and with the New York State police, before diving into the story about the manhunt.

Many reviewers note that it feels more like Charles's autobiography than the actual story of the manhunt. However, they state that his ability to describe the anxiety of the area during the manhunt and the descriptions of it all were worth reading.
