Bobby Bostic
Bobby Bostic was born on January 5th, 1979 and is currently 46 years old. Bostic attended Adams State University and Missouri State University where he received an associate's degree.
Bobby Bostic is a writer that was sentenced to 241 years.
On December 12, 1995, when he was 16, along with Donald Hutson (18 years old) robbed this group of people in Missouri at gunpoint and shortly thereafter robbed and for a brief time detained a woman in her car.
They were caught later that same day. Hutson took a plea deal and accepted 30 years in prison. Bobby declined this same offer, taking the advice of his family and elected to take it to trial. Judge Evelyn Baker gave him a 241 year long sentence, making him eligible for parole when he was 112. He was serving the longest sentence in Missouri handed out to a juvenile for non-homicide offenses.
Before this case, he was on probation for assault. He also had other arrests that he had not yet been prosecuted for, and at one drug-related conviction he was legally assessed as being an adult already.
His case attracted considerable media attention in later years, because of changing laws regarding life sentences for minors, and the severity of his sentence. Judge Baker later said that she regretted giving him such a sentence, and actively supported his unsuccessful 2018 appeal to the Supreme Court of the United States. In 2021, there was a new law passed that allowed him to apply for parole. His application was approved and he got his release in November of 2022.
While in prison, he founded a book club, and after he wrote to the St. Louis County Library, inspired efforts from librarians to create projects in order to improve literacy in prison. He completed a General Educational Development diploma, an associate degree and more than 30 rehabilitation programs and classes. He’s completed courses from Missouri State University and Adams State University.
Generation Misunderstood: Generation Next is about how for the most part, we grew up as kids in this world that we could not relate to. How does it feel to be a kid locked inside this shell since nobody truly understands you? How does it feel to be a kid that is loved, however it feels as though she or he isn’t loved? How would it feel to be a kid that grows into adulthood that is still affected by their scarred childhood? How does it feel to be a kid to be misunderstood?
We’ll take a look inside of this generation’s mindset in order to figure out what makes our youth so disrespectful and violent in today’s day and age.
