Beata Ernman is the younger sister of Greta Thunberg, the renowned Swedish climate activist, and the daughter of Svante Thunberg, a film producer, and Malena Ernman, an opera singer.

Bea has always been drawn to the performing arts since she was a child. At thirteen, she sang on Bingolott, the Swedish TV show that aired on prime time slots. She was also cast in Forever Piaf, the musical, as Edith Piaf alongside Marlena Ernman, her mother.

Professionally, Beata Ernman used her mother’s surname so that she could distance herself from the climate activist image of her sister and family. As such, she typically presents a creative and bold persona, showcasing politically charged music and fashion-forward photos on social media.

Being the bold person that she is, Beata Ernman has never shied away from sharing about her struggles, including an ADHD diagnosis as a child and other conditions such as defiance syndrome and obsessive compulsive behaviors. The diagnoses shaped her early behavior and experiences according to the family memoirs of her mother.

Beata has also been the victim of threats and bullying directed at her family due to the fame of her sister Greta. The latter has noted that the hate messages targeted at her often hit Beata, which has made her life very difficult.
