Amy Harmon novels cover such a wide variety of genres and I have loved them all! One of my favorite scenes is the song writing pages in chapter five of The Songbook of Benny Lament. Amy is on my “must read” list and I am very much looking forward to The Outlaw Noble Salt which comes out this April.
I love music. I play the piano and I was in school during the 60’s! This story really hit home with all the references to different musicians, Benny’s capability to write music, the history of civil rights, the Mob. I normally read very quickly but in this case I made sure to stop after 2 or 3 chapters and let it all sink in. There was that much to absorb. There is so much more to say but I miss Benny and Esther already. Great story, super characters and a completely unique way of telling it. I stumbled on her books when “Where the Lost Wander” was referenced citing a story of Pioneers going west in wagon trains. That hooked me. It was another wonderful story. I have read 3 so far and cannot wait to pick up another one!
I LOVED the new Amy Harmon book: The Outlaw Noble Salt. Of course it didn’t hurt to have the image of young Robert Redford in my mind the whole time I was reading. Amy’s love for this story came through loud and clear and it was one of those books that I read slower as the last page drew near. Thank you for another excellent read!
This is the second novel I have read by Ms. Harmon. Both were exceptional reads. One was about the Pioneers in the west (Where the Lost Wander) and one set in WWII Italy (From Sand and Ash). There are millions of words in our language but how someone can pick and choose those to make scenes, show emotions, and write dialogue that hit right at the heart is an amazing talent. I don’t think I was ever aware of the complete prosecution of Jews in Italy during the war. Most of the novels I have read deal with Paris and the Resistance. It was eye opening to say the least. Very educational as well as a wonderful love story. I cannot wait to read another one of her books!
