Author Victoria Thompson has sadly passed away.
Victoria was the author of the acclaimed Gaslight Mystery series of novels, the latest of which, “Murder in Rose Hill”, was just released this past April.
The USA Today Bestselling Author had written numerous series over the years, such as The Hired Gunslinger series, but it was the Gaslight Mystery series which was by far her most popular book series.
Several books in the series were nominated for ‘Best Historical Novel’ at the Agatha Awards throughout the years, and she was a 2019 Sue Grafton Memorial Award Finalist for her novel City of Secrets. In 2012, she received the Romantic Times Career Achievement Award.
Victoria Thompson, a member of the Mystery Writers of America and a Founding member of Novelists, Inc., was born in Washington, D.C. She studied at the University of Maryland, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in English. She then attended Seton Hill University, where she earned a Master of Fine Arts in Writing Popular Fiction.
Victoria passed away on Friday, August 23rd, 2024. An update was made to her Facebook page on August 25th and stated that it was due to complications of Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Fans and fellow authors alike will remember Victoria Thompson’s legacy in the historical mystery genre. Her work entertained and inspired many in the mystery writing community.
