CBC‘s Canada Reads returns, and this year’s top five contenders have been announced.
Five Canadian celebrities have each selected a book they feel Canadians should read. They’ll then be put to the task to debate the books over four days, eliminating one per day until a winning book is announced.
CBC notes: “The collection of titles for 2026 showcases the power of storytelling to inspire, connect and grow — together.”
This year’s titles include A Minor Chorus by Billy-Ray Belcourt, championed by filmmaker and actor Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers, Tyler Hellard‘s Searching for Terry Punchout has been selected by hockey Youtube personality and podcaster, Steve “Dangle” Glynn, The Cure for Drowning by Loghan Paylor will be championed by Tegan Quin of musical duo, Tegan And Sara, Broadway actor and kids TV host, Josh Dela Crus, will champion Foe by Iain Reid and BookTok star Morgann Book champions It’s Different This Time by Joss Richard.
