We have a full slate of new releases for March 13th. A lot of authors brought their ideas to life, but there is one idea that I’m surprised we don’t see here. That’s because March 13th is “Smart and Sexy Day”, a day to celebrate smart and attractive women in a variety of career fields. Seriously, how is that not a romance novel already?
A Death in Berlin is the third book in the CI Schenke Series by Simon Scarrow. CI Horst Schenke, a Kripo investigator in war-torn Berlin, is determined to keep criminals off the streets despite the growing power of the Nazi regime. His refusal to turn a blind eye to the corruption that allows gangsters to thrive puts him at odds with dangerous enemies. As doubts about his loyalty intensify, his greatest secret—his relationship with a Jewish woman—could cost him everything.
With powerful figures eager to bend him to their will, Schenke finds himself walking a deadly tightrope. From Berlin’s seedy underworld to the lavish homes of Nazi elites, he is caught between duty and survival. As the war creeps closer and the stakes rise, he must decide how far he’s willing to go to stand against the tide of evil.
Lauren and Xavier’s story continues in Keeping Xavier by Mae K. Knight, the latest in the Sins of the Lasher Family Series. When Lauren is reported missing and the police search for them, Xavier heads for the border. If they find them before they reach the border, will she stay? And how many bodies will he leave behind if she doesn’t?
Sword of a Valkyrie is the second book in the Vinland to Valhalla Saga Series by New York Times bestselling author Melanie Karsak. When Eirik the Red set sail west in 985, everyone believed he was doomed—everyone except his daughter, Freydis. As whispers of sea monsters and divine punishment spread, even her mother turned to Christianity for comfort. But Freydis remained steadfast, waiting not only for her father’s return but also for Brien, the man she loved. However, fate is rarely kind. An unexpected twist of chance leads Freydis down a path she never could have imagined.
The Claimed by the Red Hand Series by Jordan Castillo Price begins with The Outcast Orc. Once a renowned horse trainer among nobles, a single scandal ruined everything, forcing a retreat from the city—only to end up in chains. Now owned by Marok, an imposing orc shrouded in silence and secrets, the rules of this new world are clear: humans are property, orcs are masters. But fear isn’t so simple, and neither is Marok. As an outsider among his own kind, he carries unseen burdens, just as she refuses to accept her fate. In a world built on power and obedience, defiance might be the only thing they share.
