On this day in 1936, Jesse Owens won the 100 Metre Dash at the Berlin Olympics. Many people have compared writing a book to running a marathon so it seems fitting that today we celebrate these authors who have completed the race and are releasing their new books. It’s not a competition, but they are all gold medal winners in our eyes.
Colin Conway has one of the top releases of the day with “The Golden Witness”. This book is the fifteenth entry in The 509 Crime Stories Series. The series is set in Eastern Washington with revolving lead characters and each book is a standalone here so a reader could start here and work their way backwards if they like.

If you’re looking for a historical Scottish romance, Kenna Kendrick has you covered with the release of “The Kiss of a Highland Brute”. This book is the eighth entry in the Hearts Aflame: Love in the MacPherson Castle, but it is a standalone story that can be read anytime. Kendrick promises readers that there is no cheating, no cliffhangers, and a guaranteed happily ever after.
The Valentine Investigation Series by Joe Talon releases the third book in the series today. “An Agony of Lies” features private investigator Dale Valentine teaming up with the police and a hacker to go against big business corruption and greed.
Fans of hard science fiction will be thrilled by the release of the second book in H. Peter Alesso‘s By Any Other Name Series, “By Any Other Means”. The series follows a lowly recruit who finds himself thrust into the role of Special Operations Service captain. He must act the role to avoid being found out as a fraud while the threat of alien invasion looms large.
