It’s Saturday and for all my fellow Trekkies, today is First Contact Day. For the uninitiated, First Contact Day celebrates the day that humans will have their first meeting with the Vulcans on April 5th, 2063. Only 38 years to go! The good news is you don’t have to wait nearly that long for today’s new book releases. They are all listed below.
Indelicate Deception is the latest standalone novel by V.S. Kemanis. Caty Robertson grows up surrounded by love, raised by her father, Roy, who paints a picture of a perfect romance with her mother, Lenore. But Lenore is absent from Caty’s life, and Roy’s vague explanations only deepen the mystery. As Caty matures, she imagines her parents’ love story set against the backdrop of 1970s Berkeley—a romance marked by differences in race, class, and values, but united by passion and determination.
However, when Lenore leaves without a word, Roy claims the separation is amicable, but Caty suspects there’s more to the story. Driven by a desire to protect her father, Caty secretly investigates, uncovering shocking truths. Yet, the answers she seeks remain just out of reach—until she finds her mother and confronts the past.
Whispers of the Magical Forest is the latest Midlife Witchery Series book from USA Today bestselling author Brenda Trim. Fiona, Violet, and Aislinn, a coven of magical women, uncover a corpse with supernatural ties in their village, sparking a hunt for a killer behind ritualistic murders. The local police are clueless, so the coven takes matters into their own hands. But when Aislinn is kidnapped by a dark-magic shifter, the stakes grow higher. As they battle to save her and uncover a shocking discovery, the trio faces even greater chaos ahead. In their world, survival is just the beginning.
The Fractured Puppets Series by Sage RelleAnne continues with Drop His Mask. Raven is far from done with the game, the country, or escaping death. She’s a master at being underestimated, and as the game nears its end, questions begin to surface. Why do the winners disappear without a trace? Why does the Host seem so familiar? And what does 197 want from her—really?
Mark Epstein‘s Cape Dreams follows a season with the Brewster Whitecaps. Brewster, Massachusetts, home of the Brewster Whitecaps, is a quaint town without even a red light.
