The shortlist for the 2024 Agatha Awards is out!
The Agatha Awards are one of the most prestigious awards for mystery and crime literature. Named for Agatha Christie, these awards are for mysteries without explicit sex, gore, or violence, and not considered “hardboiled.” The awards were originally conceived in 1987 and were first presented in 1989 (for the year of 1988).
The awards are presented by Malice Domestic, and they consist of six categories – Best Contemporary Novel, Best Historical Novel, Best First Novel, Best Short Story, Best Non-Fiction, and Best Children’s/Young Adult Mystery. Each category consists of five nominees.

In addition, Donna Andrews will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award, and Lucy Worsley will receive the Poirot Award for a non-writer who has made a significant contribution to the genre.
The awards will be presented at the Malice Domestic 37 convention during the weekend of April 25-27. It will take place at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
