The National Book Award for Young People’s Literature is one of five National Book Awards. The Young People’s Literature award was established in 1996. Prior to that, there was a Children’s Books award. The award is given out by the National Book Foundation, and only U.S. citizens are eligible to win the award.
The other National Book Awards include Fiction, Nonfiction, Poetry, and Translated Literature. They also give out the Literarian Award for Outstanding Service for individuals who work to benefit the literary community.
