Hello, everyone, and welcome to Book Notification Weekly Picks.
I decided to pick up John Dies at the End, a 2007 novel by Jason Pargin. A bit dated at times, the story behind the book is much more interesting. It was originally written as a webserial starting in 2001, and wasn’t turned into a paperback until 2007. The story just kept getting shared, growing in popularity, and eventually it was a movie. Then the book spawned multiple sequels and launched Pargin’s writing career.
Funny enough, despite being online all this time, I first heard of him through TikTok. He makes nearly daily videos on a wide range of topics, but the ultimate goal is to sell books, and he admits it. I guess it finally worked on me.
That’s all I have for this week. Let’s get to the picks.
