Hello, everyone, and welcome to another week of book picks.
Unfortunately, my wife and I had to miss Thanksgiving with my family yesterday because we were feeling under the weather. This has happened to me numerous times on Thanksgiving. I’ve averaged missing about one out of every five Thanksgivings over the years due to illness. It’s just bad luck and bad timing, as I rarely get sick throughout the year.
It was nice to stay home and relax, though. Watch a few movies, and I was able to finish Louise Penny‘s Still Life. The next pick in our I Care About Books Book Club. I’ll have to save most of my thoughts for the podcast, but I do want to share that I think it’s good to read books outside your preferred genres. Cozy mysteries aren’t my thing, maybe because I grew up in a small town where everyone knew each other and nobody was quite that clever, but I can appreciate the writing and pick up little things from it. Reading outside your genre almost makes you put yourself in someone else’s shoes to see why another person would like it, and what makes it so popular. I know exactly why they would, and I’ll recommend it to someone like that. Or gift it. There is a holiday coming up.
That’s all I have for this week. Let’s get to the picks.
