July is just about here, and with it comes….just the one adaptation that we are aware of. Quality over quantity!
In 2019, Laura Lippman released the standalone novel Lady in the Lake. It’s one of the most read books by her on Book Notification, and it is getting a mini-series adaptation.
Premiering on July 19th on AppleTV+, and starring Natalie Portman, it takes place in 1960s Baltimore, where an investigative journalist becomes deeply involved in the unsolved murder case of a young black woman.
And unfortunately, that appears to be it this month! If there are any other adaptations coming out in July, please let us know in the comments so we can add them.
We do have some adaptations in August too. “It Ends With Us” by Colleen Hoover comes out then, which is the big one and expected to be a Summer blockbuster. We’ve also got “Harold and the Purple Crayon” by Crockett Johnson
But with just the one adaptation, it gives you plenty of time to read it before the TV series begins. Click here to visit Laura Lippman’s page.
