At Book Notification, we have over 30 celebrity book clubs listed. It’s the most comprehensive list of book clubs online, updated with any new books as soon as they are released.
Users can even follow the book clubs, and get notified when their favourite celebrity makes their latest pick.
But what are the most popular celebrity book clubs out there?
Based on the amount of users who follow them, here are the five most popular celebrity book clubs – and an honorable mention must go to the Jeselnik Book Club, which only began in January 2026 but Anthony Jeselnik’s book club featuring “books with cool endings” is our 7th most popular book club.
Oprah is sixth most popular, which combines both Oprah and Oprah 2.0.
#5: Good Morning America
The Good Morning America Book Club, also known as the GMA Book Club, started in 2019, and is our fifth most popular book club. Note that these stats do not include the Young Adult Book Club.
Picked by the entire GMA Editorial Team and Staff, there are no set genre rules or topics related to their picks. Over the years, there have been a variety of books which have made the list, from psychological thrillers to historical dramas.
In 2024, Good Morning America expanded its selection with a specific book club for young adults, looking to target multiple generations within a single household with their book club picks.
The most notable pick for the GMA Book Club is likely Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus. This book became an international sensation, and was adapted for Apple TV+. Good Morning America has a very strong reputation with their book club picks, and you will likely see many of their picks on the bestseller lists the week after.

#4: Read with Jenna Book Club
TV host Jenna Bush Hager started this book club in March 2019, with the inaugural pick The Last Romantics by Tara Conklin. Interestingly, the book club launched due to a dare from Libby Leist, who was the EVP of Today.
Libby had read two articles; one which said people read more than ever, and the other that said Jenna’s generation were not reading. Jenna said that her generation was reading more than ever, and set out to prove it by starting a book club.
The club was a big success from the get-go with The Last Romantics jumping from oblivion to #2 on the Amazon bestseller list.
The book club has evolved over the years including a Read with Jenna Jr. seasonal club, which focuses on books for young adults, middle graders and children.
While not exclusive, a large focus of the Read with Jenna Book Club is on debut authors and diverse authors, to help their voice be heard.

#3: Barnes & Noble Book Club
The retailer Barnes & Noble started in May 2018, with Meg Wolitzer’s The Female Persuasion as its first pick.
In the first few years, the book club picks were a bit sporadic as it tried to find its footing. It initially launched with the aim of having seasonal book club nights at all of the stores across the country, although that does not happen anymore. Some B&N stores may host a book club night, while other locations pick their own books for their local book club.
B&N often works with authors to create “exclusive editions” of their monthly book clubs. This can include different cover art, bonus chapters, or extended content such as essays or Q&A within the book.
While there are no set rules for their picks, Barnes & Noble do tend to focus on historical sagas and literary fiction.
Alongside the book club, Barnes & Noble often do specific genre picks of the month, however these are not considered part of the official book club.

#2: Reese’s Book Club
Reese Witherspoon’s Book Club has been the most impactful book club of all the celebrity book clubs, and is the second most popular book club at Book Notification.
Reese started the book club with the first pick, Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman in June 2017. What initially started as an extension of her social media became the cornerstone of her multimedia company, Hello Sunshine.
The mission statement from Reese’s Book Club is that each story must feature a woman at the centre. It has proven to be very popular, and the “Reese Effect” for book club books usually always results in massive spikes in sales for those books.
One of the most notable book club picks by Reese was Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. This resulted in the book topping many bestseller lists, with Reese helping adapt it into a movie. Reese has since worked with other authors to adapt their books.
Reese loves to pick psychological thrillers, and notably wrote a standalone thriller with Harlan Coben, titled Gone Before Goodbye.

#1: The Late Show Book Club
It only launched in June 2025, and we’ve no idea how the future is going to be for it but one thing is for sure: people love Stephen Colbert, and The Late Show Book Club.
It is our most popular book club by a solid margin, and it will be interesting seeing if Stephen expands on it following the end of The Late Show. Currently it is primarily reserved for the TV show, with Stephen making the pick early in the month, then chatting with the author late in the month. There are hopes that Stephen will continue the book club following the end of The Late Show with podcasts and more.
The first pick was the excellent Orbital by Samantha Harvey. The aim of this book club is quite simple: “Books Worth Your Time”. Commercial thrillers are generally bypassed for literary fiction or dense speculative science fiction, and it has a refreshing high-brow approach which differentiates it from other book clubs.
While we’re not sure what will happen with this book club, one thing we can guarantee; we will keep you notified of any new books or the future of the book club wherever it ends up.
That was the list of the most popular book clubs by Book Notification members.
Personally, I’m a big fan of Reese’s Book Club as she seems to have a similar mindset as me in terms of what I want in a book, and the Richard and Judy Book Club, which has picked some incredible thrillers over the years.
