By: Graeme, August 31st, 2024 11:08 am.

September is an excellent month if you’re a fan of book adaptations.

Following on from August, and the big release of It Ends With Us, which was adapted by the book of the same name by Colleen Hooever, we have numerous adaptations releasing this month.

The Perfect Couple by Elin Hildebrand

The third book in the Nantucket series by Elin Hildebrand will see an adaptation this month.

Titled “The Perfect Couple”, it premieres on Netflix on September 5th, 2024 and stars Nicole Kidman, Eve Hewson and Liev Schreiber.

It’s adapted as a six-episode mini-series and is the story of Amelia, who is marrying into the Nantucket Winbury family, where she has to sign an NDA. On the day of her wedding, her best friend and bridesmaid’s dead body is found on the beach – and every single character is considered a suspect.

Here’s the trailer for the first-ever adaptation of an Elin Hildebrand novel:

The Chicken Sisters by KJ Dell’Antonia

The first ever standalone novel KJ Dell’Antonia wrote, is seeing a TV adaptation this month.

It will be on the Hallmark+ streaming service and stars Lea Thompson, who played the title character in Caroline in the City. Wendie Malick from Just Shoot Me fame also stars.

A Reeses Book Club Pick, it takes place In the small town of Merinac, Kansas, two rival chicken shacks and their feuding families are thrown into chaos when a reality TV competition comes to town. Sisters Amanda and Mae Moore must navigate family secrets and rivalries as they decide whether to fight against each other or unite for their heritage.

The Uglies by Scott Westerfeld

“Uglies” is the first book in The Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld. This was one of the early and grounding breaks in the YA popularity explosion a couple of decades ago, along with the Divergent series and, of course, The Hunger Games. Uglies was published before both.

It has been adapted into a movie, which will be released on September 13th on Netflix and stars Joey King and Laverne Cox. The series has four books in total.

Without Blood by Alessandro Baricco

The debut novel “Without Blood” by Alessandro Baricco gets its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival this month.

Directed and written by Angelina Jolie, it’s a compelling war drama movie starring Salma Hayek and Demian Bichir.

No trailer is currently available.
