The Nero Book Awards – not to be confused with The Nero Award – are book awards which began in Britain in 2023. They are awards for authors from the United Kingdom, and offer four different awards categories.

There are awards for the best fiction novel, best debut fiction, best children’s fiction and best non-fiction books of the past year. There is also the “Nero Gold Prize” given to the best overall book of the year.

The awards are sponsored by Caffè Nero, and are known as the Caffè Nero Book Awards.

The criteria for the Caffè Nero Book Awards is that they want to give awards to the books you would want to recommend and give to your friends and family.

Here is a complete listing of the Caffè Nero Book Awards since they began:

Caffè Nero Book Awards F.A.Q.

Why did they choose the name Nero due to there already being a Nero award for books?

It’s because the current sponsor is the coffee chain Caffè Nero.

What is the Nero Gold Prize?

This is an overall prize out of all the winners which is the overall best book of the year and is announced a bit later in the year, after the initial awards have been announced. The Bee Sting by Paul Murray was the inaugural winner of this prestigious award.
