WEB Griffin was a master storyteller of our times and the fact that he wrote more than 60 titles just goes on to show a man dedicated to the writing craft.
While I am yet to read all the novels, I have come to associate Griffin with the swashbuckling lives of cops, spies and soldiers.
My best novels by WEB Griffin include The Lieutenants which was part of a series that followed the lives of soldiers in the US from the Vietnam War and right back to World War II.
I found most of his writing to be a bit wry but straightforward. What I liked about them is that they combined patriotism, historical fact, sex and technical detail to make for some fast paced stories that always had me on the edge of my seat.
W.E.B Griffin is such a fascinating author. I encountered his work for the first time during my childhood. I distinctly remember seeing a novel with‘ W.E.B. Griffin’ on the cover.
It sat on a coffee table for months. I don’t think anyone ever touched it. But then it just vanished one random day. Fast forward to a few weeks ago. I was walking down the street on a hot Monday morning when I noticed a pile of used books outside a store.
The first thing I saw was a novel with ‘W.E.B Griffin’ on the cover. Can you imagine if it was the same book? The font, colors, and cover art looked similar. But I don’t know for sure.
I still have ‘The Hostage’ in my bag, but I haven’t read it, not yet. I cannot stop reading about Griffin and the fascinating life he lived.
