She opened Headliners, which was a 12 seat hair salon located in Houston, Texas in 1990. It went on to become one of the most famous hair businesses in all of Houston. Her rise to prominence came as a costume designer for Destiny’s Child. During the early days of the group’s career, she created outfits that the group’s members wore on stage and to events out of necessity since their money was limited. She styled the women’s hair as well, and they would practice their routines at her shop.
