Stephen Colbert
Stephen Colbert (Stephen Tyrone Colbert) was born on May 13th, 1964 and is currently 61 years old. Stephen Colbert was born in Washington, District of Columbia, USA. Colbert attended Northwestern University where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree. He also attended Hampden-Sydney College.
Stephen Colbert is a writer, comedian, political commentator, actor, producer, and TV host. He’s best known for hosting the Comedy Central show
The Colbert Reportfrom 2005 to 2014, and
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert which he started in September of 2015.
He had originally studied to become a dramatic actor, however he became interested in improv theater while he was attending Northwestern University, where he met Del Close, Second City director. He first performed professionally as an understudy for Steve Carrell at Second City Chicago. Amy Sedaris and Paul Dinello, comedians with whom he went on to develop the sketch comedy series called Exit 57, were both in his troupe. Stephen performed on
The Dana Carvey Show, and also wrote for the show, before he again collaborated with Dinello and Sedaris on
Strangers with Candy, a sitcom.
His work on
The Daily Show gained him some wide recognition. He left the show to do his own show. It followed the news parody concept of
The Daily Show, and it was a parody of personality driven political opinion shows like
The O’Reilly Factor, where he played a caricatured version of conservative political pundits.
It earned him an invitation to perform as featured entertainer in the 2006 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner, which he did in character. It was this event which led the series becoming one of the highest rated series for Comedy Central.
He’s a 9 time Primetime Emmy winner, won 2 Grammys, and 3 Peabody Awards.
Time named him one of their 100 Most Influential People in 2006 and 2012.
Does This Taste Funny?: Recipes Our Family Loves invites you to pull a chair up while they share their favorite recipes from friends and family and offer this glimpse of fun and food in their South Carolina home.
Like Stephen and Evie explain, this book had its origins in the Covid lockdown. Everybody was stuck together and couldn’t go out, so they cooked. They had all three of their kids under the same roof for the first time in a long time, and they had dinner every night as a family. Cooking together became such a major source of entertainment.
Now, they invite us into their kitchen and around their dining room table. Sharing their favorite recipes, along with those of their friends and family, this book offers everything from Party Food (since calling it appetizers implies there’s a course that follows when this is typically the only food) to Poultry and Meat, and Seafood. Then there’s Desserts, which is one of the biggest parts of the entire book. Evie reminds Stephen that desserts are a fantastic way to postpone cleaning up. Drinks. Stephen loves cocktail hour, since it feels like a reward for having gone so very long without a cocktail. It’s all tied together with playful dialogue between them and gorgeous shots of their family, food, and home.
