Raphael Bob-Waksberg

Raphael Bob-Waksberg (Raphael Matthew Bob-Waksberg) was born on August 17th, 1984 and is currently 40 years old. Raphael Bob-Waksberg was born in San Mateo, California, USA. Bob-Waksberg attended Bard College where he received a Theater and Performance degree.

Raphael Bob-Waksberg is an American author, comedian, actor, and producer. He is famously known for his Netflix animated comedy series BoJack Horseman which earned him two Primetime Emmy nominations and four Critics’ Choice Television Awards. Waksberg has also co-created the Amazon Prime Video animated series Undone with Kate Purdy. He also worked as a writer and executive producer for the animated series Tuca & Bertie

In 2019, Bob-Waksberg released a collection of short stories Someone Who Will Love You in All Your Damaged Glory: Stories. The book is an exploration of love in its many different forms. From family drama, and breakups, to quirky lists and sci-fi experiments, these stories take the reader on an emotional rollercoaster while at the same time remaining deeply human and relatable.

The author uses creative storytelling techniques like a story told as a poem or a guide to New York City landmarks for serial monogamists to bring fresh perspectives to everyday situations. Bob-Waksberg discusses major themes such as self-discovery, love, and heartbreak which makes the characters feel like people we know sharing their lives over coffee.

Some unique stories like You Want to Know What Plays Are Like? and The Average of All Possible Things deal with the themes of loss and the struggle to connect with others. For instance, in You Want to Know What Plays Are Like? The narrator tells of a play written by her brother that dramatizes their family’s dysfunction. These stories highlight the tension between what we all wish we could say and what we do. It beautifully captures the bittersweet realities of unresolved feelings, and missed opportunities which is a great reflection for the readers on their own “what-ifs.”

The book also dives into some science fiction and fantasy with stories like More of the You That You Already Are. In this story, we see a man who impersonates a former US president and faces losing his job to a genetically engineered “super president.” Despite this weird premise, the story is ultimately about love and family as the narrator chooses to stick with his sick sister rather than chase his career. Such a blend of absurdity, humor, and raw emotion is what makes Bob-Waksberg’s stories so compelling.

Someone Who Will Love You in All Your Damaged Glory: Stories collection is a classic reminder that love is still possible even in our messiest and most heartbroken moments. The author carefully balances wit with vulnerability and thus helps the reader to envision themselves in his flawed but lovable characters. Overall, this is a book that shows how love in all its different forms can help us navigate life’s challenges. It’s a highly recommended read for anyone who’s ever felt damaged but still hopes for connection.
