Paul D. Miller

Paul D. Miller (Paul David Miller) was born in 1970 and is currently 56 years old. Paul D. Miller was born in Washington, D.C., United States. Miller attended Georgetown University where he received a Ph.D in International Relations and Bachelor of Arts in Political Theory and Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government where he received a Master's Degree in Public Policy.

Paul D. Miller is an academic author and former White House executive who worked under both Barack Obama and George W. Bush. He also works as a professor at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, is a veteran and reserve Army officer, and was a RAND Corporation adjunct political scientist for a time.

Under presidents Obama and Bush, he was an Assistant to the Deputy National Security Advisor for Afghanistan and Iraq and the president. Dr. Miller also worked as a Special Coordinator for Pakistan and Afghanistan when he worked for Barack Obama.

Paul D. Miller is a regular author in matters of American policy in South Asia, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. He has blogged on Elephants in the Room on foreign affairs in addition to blogging in journals such as Insurgencies, Foreign Affairs, Small Wars, Survival, the World Affairs Journal, and Presidential Studies Quarterly, among many others.

Miller is also a contributing editor to Providence and Texas National Security Review. He is also an Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission research fellow, a member of the Texas Lyceum, and a Philos Project advisory board member.

In 2019, Paul D. Miller published American Power and Liberal Order in which he provides a critique of American grand strategy in recent times. He prescribes more conservatism and criticizes liberal internationalism by showing how the former would be better at preserving American leadership and security in the world. Blending his experience with academic rigor he offers some insightful prescriptions for the grand strategy of the US.

Just War and Ordered Liberty is a work that Paul D. Miller published in 2021. He combines careful and sophisticated historical analysis as he looks into three major just war traditions. He looks into the critical dilemmas of the modern world and illuminates the happenings in the past to offer a compelling moral framework for the challenges that we face today and tomorrow.

The following year, Paul D. Miller published The Religion of American Greatness in which he argued against Christian nationalism. Making use of his experience in public service and the classroom, he shows the folly of the ideology including its critical tenets as well as its spiritual, cultural, and political implications not only for Christianity but also for the United States.
