He also works as a professor at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, is a veteran and reserve Army officer, and was a RAND Corporation adjunct political scientist for a time.

Under presidents Obama and Bush, he was an Assistant to the Deputy National Security Advisor for Afghanistan and Iraq and the president. Dr. Miller also worked as a Special Coordinator for Pakistan and Afghanistan when he worked for Barack Obama.

Paul D. Miller is a regular author in matters of American policy in South Asia, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.
