Niellah Arboine is a writer, editor, and broadcaster whose work explores the intersections of nature, politics, culture, and identity.
Based in south London, Niellah Arboine brings a vibrant and thoughtful voice to contemporary media. She is the former deputy editor of
Where the Leaves Fall, a magazine focused on nature and storytelling, and was an original member of gal-dem, where she served as lifestyle editor. Her editorial leadership helped shape gal-dem’s inclusive and culturally resonant approach to journalism.

As a broadcaster, Niellah co-hosted the award-winning podcast
Growing Up with gal-dem, and has appeared on BBC Radio 4’s
Woman’s Hour,
The Film Programme, and
Open Country. She also hosted a BBC Radio 4 documentary on Black journalists in the UK and is a Golden Globe Awards voter.
Niellah studied English Literature and Creative Writing at Aberystwyth University. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, gardening, swimming, and cycling. Her multifaceted career reflects a commitment to storytelling that is both personal and political, rooted in lived experience and a deep curiosity about the world.
