Morrissey (Steven Patrick Morrissey) was born on May 22nd, 1959 and is currently 67 years old. Morrissey was born in Davyhulme, Lancashire, England.

Morrissey is an English singer, songwriter, and co-founder of The Smiths, who gained a following as the lead singer and lyricist of the band until 1987, after which he pursued a solo music career. He has had three number-one albums in England across three separate decades. Before his rise to fame, he fronted the Nosebleeds, a punk rock band in the late 1970s, and also kicked off a career in music journalism and writing.

Morrissey co-founded The Smiths with Johnny Marr in 1982, gaining national recognition for their debut album. As the lead singer, Morrissey became known for his sardonic lyrics and signature hairstyle. The band received critical acclaim and garnered a large fan base, but personal differences between Marr and Morrissey led to the band's breakup in 1987.

Following The Smiths, Morrissey launched his solo career with his debut album Viva Hate. His subsequent albums performed well in the UK, and he released several hit singles. Morrissey is also known for his outspoken opinions, including his advocacy for animal rights. He was voted the second-greatest living British cultural icon by BBC’s Culture Show viewers. Throughout his career, Morrissey has been a controversial figure, often criticizing political leaders and the monarchy. In 2012, he was awarded the Keys to the City of Tel Aviv.

Morrissey authored Autobiography, in which he details his troubled and deprived childhood, including the assaults he endured from classmates and teachers, as well as the chaos at home. He also recounts his struggles with The Smiths, authority figures, his management, family, lovers, celebrities, the media, and himself. The memoir is well-written and insightful, offering historical context for Morrissey’s work. It also highlights his compassion for animals and his devotion to his fans, alongside the challenges of his life.

Another book by Morrissey, List of the Lost, is a tale of good versus evil. In this story, he delves into his political obsessions and fascination with American TV shows. Set in the 1970s, the book provides Morrissey’s perspective on American culture as a non-native, with an interesting critique of its politics.
