Mary Stone creates some compelling stories with dastardly villains and strong and courageous heroines. Most of her characters from Winter Black to Ellie Kline and Autumn Trent are tough females that can go toe to toe with any antagonist or protagonist.
My best series ever by Stone is the Winter Black series. The lead is a rookie FBI agent named Winter Black who is a lovable agent that I have grown so much fond of over the course of reading the series.
Winter had been the only survivor when most of her family was viciously killed off. The thirteen year old girl woke up from her coma to discover she had a new ability she could not control.
As a fan of thriller and suspense novels, the Winter Black series was a must read and I have since read most of the novels in the series. She also spices it up with some paranormal elements which make the stories all the more better.
Starting from the debut of the series Winter Origin, I love how Stone writes some excellent plots, plays her suspense and provides non stop action.
I keep jumping back and forth between Winter Black and Autumn Trent. After reading the first two novels of each series, I don’t know which one I like more. Books of this nature are new to me.
I have read plenty of suspense thrillers over the years. However, most of them are grounded. The protagonists are ordinary detectives using their natural talents to find murderers.
The idea of a detective with paranormal abilities is new to me. But it makes sense. Can you imagine where the Sherlock Holmes series would have gone if Sherlock could see the future or read minds? It takes a deft hand to create interesting villains for detectives with extraordinary advantages.
Ready to start Book #5 in the Shadow Island series. So far I’ve enjoyed each book even though Book #4 was less on Murder Mystery and more on preparing for a Hurricane. Easy reads.
Mary Stone’s Shadow Island and Winter Black series have me hooked. The Shadow’s Conspiracy brought tears to my eyes as the characters have become so real and personable. The Winter series is another keep reading challenge. Guess I will have to try Autumn Trent next.
My most favorite series by Mary Stone has been the Winter Black series. I have enjoyed the Shadow Island series and started the Autumn Trent series, but Winter is still my first choice.
I’ve only read the Winter Black series (which included part of the Autumn Trent series) and I loved each and every book in the series. I can’t wait for the next one which should be out this coming year. It’s the best series of books I’ve read in a long time in this genre. I agree with all you said that I know about. This author deserves every accolade she gets.
During my read of Winter’s Return I felt like I had skipped a book regarding the marriage of Winter and Dalton plus the life threat from Winter’s brother. I have the feeling that the answers lie in the book Autumn’s Break so that is what I will read next. Am I wrong?
