You know how people follow bands around? I follow military veterans. Well, maybe it isn’t the same thing. Basically, I find vets that have written fiction, and I buy their novels because I love the authenticity they bring to the action/adventure genre.
Mark Tufo was in the US Marine Corps, but he writes zombie fiction which disappointed me, at least initially. But then I did a thing you should never do. I bought seven hardback copies of his books because…I don’t know why.
I hated the covers. But a fan online said that they changed the covers. Apparently, the older ones were better. I’ll sell my copies and get new ones. Anyway, Zombie Fallout is fun. I didn’t think it was my cup of tea. But I guess I don’t know my own preferences.
Mark Tufo has a unique and humorous way of building deep characters. I just completed the third book in the Indian Hill series, and I’m really intrigued by the writing style. The pace is smooth, and the sense of humor is so refreshing in the apocalypse weather stories. Mark has a way with his choice of words, and the fine details add flesh to the story to keep the reader hooked. He is a legal master in storytelling, and in the Winter Rising novel, he did a superb job of choosing a great narrator. The Zombie Fallout series was my favorite, and I liked how the author balanced the drama and terror of the Zombies.
