I know an author that joined Sisters in Crime a little while ago, and I was introduced to Maron after learning that she was part of the team that founded Sisters in Crime.

Organizations of this sort fascinate me because they sound so prestigious. It almost feels like they emerged mysteriously out of the mists of time. I don’t think of them as ordinary entities started by ordinary people, which is why Maron fascinated me. She seemed so normal.

And unlike some of my favorite authors, she received the recognition she deserved during her lifetime. Some of my friends act like any author that doesn’t have an award isn’t worth their time. Whenever one of them questions a Margaret Maron recommendation I made, I do not hesitate to throw all her accolades in their faces.
