I remember seeing Lynn Austin’s name in a blog post and being very hesitant to read her because she was described as a historical fiction author. I don’t like historical fiction because it spends more time on the historical elements than it does on the story.
I read fiction for its entertainment value. I don’t have any interest in long lectures about periods that don’t matter to me. But every Lynn Austin novel I’ve read thus far has surprised me.
She injects so much emotion into her narratives. You cannot help but empathize with the plight of her characters. That includes individuals you wouldn’t care for in real life. She gives them voices and three-dimensional personalities. I know people who will dismiss her because she’s a Christian author, but they are missing out.
