Lou Diamond Phillips

Lou Diamond Phillips (Louis Diamond Upchurch) was born on February 17th, 1962 and is currently 64 years old. Lou Diamond Phillips was born in U.S. Naval Base Subic Bay, Zambales, Philippines. Phillips attended the University of Texas at Arlington where he received a BFA degree in Drama.

Lou Diamond Philips is a Filipino-born American author, actor, and director. He rose to fame when he starred as Ritchie Valens in La Bamba. He was nominated for Golden Globe Award for his performance in Stand and Deliver film and won an Independent Spirit Award.

Phillips first performed on Broadway in 1996 in The King and I, where he played King Mongkut of Siam and was nominated for a Tony Award. Some of his well-known movies include Young Guns, Young Guns II, The Big Hit, Courage Under Fire, Brokedown Palace, Che, and The 33.

On TV, he played Henry Standing Bear in the series Longmire and portrayed Lieutenant Gil Arroyo in Prodigal Son on FOX from 2019 to 2021.

In his book Tinderbox: Soldier of Indira Philips introduces us to Everson. He never wanted to be a soldier, but his parents forced him to serve. His first battle against their greatest enemies goes horribly wrong and he ends up stranded on the enemy planet.

Everson must therefore find a way to survive in this unfamiliar and dangerous world. He quickly becomes the target of traitors who want to use him in a plot to overthrow their ruthless king, Xander the Firm. They determined to force him into retrieving a mysterious and powerful ancient artefact known as the Tinderbox.

Things take an unexpected turn when he crosses paths with the king’s daughter. Despite her royal status, she is in just as much danger from her own people as Everson is. Though their civilizations have been at war for centuries, an undeniable connection form between them.

As chaos erupts around them, their forbidden love could be the key to ending the war forever or it might lead to destruction for them both.

Tinderbox: Soldier of Indira is a perfect blend of political intrigue of Game of Thrones with the doomed romance of Romeo and Juliet but set in space. It is inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale The Tinderbox.

The book is set on a planet divided in half, where two civilizations have rebuilt in the aftermath. Their cultures and societies are richly developed. The style has similarities to Star Wars, and the comparisons to Dune are fitting due to its grand scale and themes.

In addition, the characters are well-crafted, with multiple perspectives that are easy to follow. The main story revolves around the star-crossed romance between Everson and Allegra. The high stakes are not only for their relationship but for the political and global consequences of their actions.

Overall, Tinderbox: Soldier of Indira is a well-crafted sci-fi adventure that mixes romance, action, and worldbuilding. It is an engaging and a must read for anyone who enjoys books set in space.
