Liz Truss
Liz Truss (Mary Elizabeth Truss) was born on July 26th, 1975 and is currently 50 years old. Liz Truss was born in Oxford, England. Truss attended Merton College, Oxford where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Liz Truss is a politician that served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party in September and October of 2022.
On just her 50th day in office, she stepped down amid government crisis, making her the shortest serving prime minister in British history. Member of Parliament for South West Norfolk from 2010 to 2024, she held various Cabinet positions under three prime ministers: Boris Johnson, David Cameron, and Theresa May, for Boris as foreign secretary from 2021 to 2022.
From 1996 until 2000, she worked for Royal Dutch Shell, qualifying as a chartered management accountant.
She left when she got a job with Cable & Wireless and rose all the way to economic director before she left in 2005, with one of her colleagues there being Labour peer George Robertson saying that Liz had a passion for politics, fresh minded and enthusiastic and the Tory Party needed people like that.
Liz joined the Conservative Party in 1996. After 2 unsuccessful attempts to get elected to House of Commons, she became MP for South West Norfolk at the 2010 general election. As backbencher, she called for reform in numerous policy areas which includes childcare, economy, and math in education.
She co-founded Free Enterprise Group of Conservative MPs and wrote or co-wrote numerous books and papers.
From 2012 to 2014 she was the parliamentary under-secretary of state for childcare and education before she was appointed secretary of state for the environment, food, and rural affairs in a cabinet refshuffle.
Ten Years to Save the West examines whether or not the West be saved. Liz fears that this could be an open question.
During her ten years spent at the highest levels of British government, she often found she was the only conservative in the room. She witnessed, first hand, the machinations of the global left, who’d like nothing more than impose corporate state-socialism on the entire world.
Freedom’s at risk, she warns, and the Conservative Party in Britain, and the Republican Party in America, urgently need to both shape up and defend it.
Problem is that Conservatives have accepted far too many of the left’s talking points, allowing for the left to set the political agenda and capitulating whenever the left’s sought to impose bigger government and curtail individual freedoms.
The authoritarian excesses during the COVID-19 lockdowns should’ve been a stark warning. Because they were precursors of things to come if conservatives continue waffling on principle and surrender on policy, thereby failing the electorate.
