Whenever I discover authors like Lilian Jackson Braun, I have a strong urge to rise to my feet and applaud. She lived to the ripe old age of 97. Can you believe that? She lived through World Wars and saw civilization change before her very eyes.
I would love to read a contemporary novel of hers, written today, to see how her experiences shape her stories. It took me a while to get to her books because I spent a lot of time reading conspiracy theories that speculated about what she did during the 20-year break she took from publishing.
Her books are incredibly fun. I hate cats. But that wasn’t an obstacle for me.
