As secrets begin to come out, Beth is shunned by her community and the Amish, in addition to her family and colleagues.
However, the list of suspects is too long, and Beth will have to dig deep to unearth dark truths behind the idyllic image of the town in the face of danger and hostility.
Later in the same year, Bachar published
Harvest, the second of the
Detective Beth Gould series.
This time around, Beth is hunting down The Reaper, a brutal serial killer, even as the town board is pressuring her to solve the case in a few weeks or else lose her job.
Things turn interesting when the daughter of a Philadelphia mob boss is found killed, forcing Beth into an uneasy alliance with a hitman sent to get revenge. It gets even more interesting when her son’s girlfriend is targeted.
