Jeffrey’s novel A Matter of Honour is an incredible read that has made me a fan of the man’s work since. Adam and Romanov are both equally honorable men.
The most stunning part of it all is the way one of the characters concealed a body, and the way that Romanov is changed after he met Robin while on the bus.
It is just an exciting story that is tough to put down, you just keep on wanting to know what will happen next. Each chapter would end, and it’d make me think, just one more. This is a novel you are going to find spots in your day to read on it.
Jeffrey Archer is one of the best storytellers of the mystery and thriller genre.
Kane and Able is an excellent example of his consummate skill. I first read the novel more than thirty years ago but I still remembered huge portions of it even as I was rereading it on my Kindle.
Archer masterfully constructs his plots like an experienced architect planning a gravity defying skyscraper. Every basement, intersection, roofline and angle melds into perfect harmony. He carefully uses these to support his schemes and plots and his characters’ hopes and dreams.
I had the opportunity to watch the mini series adaptation of the novel when it came out. Having such intimate knowledge of the novel, I feel I had an advantage over most people that had read Kane and Able casually.
Rewatching the series on Amazon, I could not help offer a critique though I still felt that Sam Neil and Peter Strauss did a good job on the acting. It was well worth the watch even if the book will always be better.
Jeffrey Archer’s work of fiction leaves me yearning for more. In Clifton Chronicles, the plot and story line are profoundly engaging and keep the reader on edge. The characters and the emotions they conveyed throughout the series are likable. Jeffrey Archer clearly knows how to play with plot twists and cliffhangers as he’s canny with them. In Detective William Warwick, Archer writes about a man who climbs the ranks of the police service department. In the Nothing Ventured, we see how William’s father has always wanted his son to follow his steps career-wise. However, William on the other hand, has always wanted to be a detective since he was eight and chooses to chase his dream. Following William through his cases while he succeeds and other times fails was so fascinating. The Kane and Abel movie series was breathtaking, and I’m looking forward to watching more movies based on Archers books.
I read ‘Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less’ in the mid-2000s. It came out in 1976, yet the plot was just as engaging as any thriller written in the 2000s. Then I delved into Jeffrey Archer’s life and completely forgot about his novels.
I encourage everyone to look into this man. I have never come across a more colorful author. I would pay good money to talk to Archer for an hour or two just to quiz him about his life.
Someone should turn his life story into a movie. I am hoping to get back into his novels in a few weeks when my schedule opens up. I can’t help but wonder whether any of his books are autobiographical.
Archer has an amazing ability to pen a story. I intend to read everything he has written.
