A year later, Trial Lawyers for Public Justice named him a finalist for Trial Lawyer of the Year for his role in that landmark case.

In 2017, Ferraro published a book about the case Blindsided, which became a bestseller and was featured on the USA Today, Los Angeles Times, and Wall Street Journal bestseller lists.

The book tells the remarkable true story of a courtroom battle that began in Florida in 1996 and lasted for ten years. The case sought justice for the Castillo family, whose young son was born without eyes after his mother was exposed to a chemical fungicide at a local u-pick farm. This chemical was believed to have caused his birth defect as well as many other children’s birth defects.
