The Left Hand of Destiny is the first
Star Trek novel Hertzler wrote. The Klingon Empire is dying, says Lieutenant Ezri Dax, and he believes it deserves to die.
With these words, he propelled Lt. Commander Worf to the most fateful decisions of his entire life: to vanquish the Klingon leader Gowron in honorable combat and install in his place some one-eyed, low-born solider of the empire that just might lead their people back to a place of honor.
General Martok, under the weighty mantle of chancellor, led the forces of the empire to victory during the last Allied assault against the Dominion. Now, with Worf standing by his side as the newly appointed Federation ambassador to Qo’noS, Martok is finally coming back home, and brings back with him hopes of a bright new future for his people.
However this new chancellor’s triumphant return back to the homeworld of the Klingon is met by upheaval and treachery. While the demons of the general’s past start to rise u, so too does this usurper of the Imperial Throne, one that knows precisely how to crush Martok, and all that stand with him, and who won’t be satisfied until they’re ashes under the foundation of a new Klingon Empire.
