Ingrid Pitt

Ingrid Pitt was born on November 21st, 1937. Ingrid passed away November 23rd, 2010 at 73 years old. Ingrid Pitt was born in Warsaw, Poland.

Ingrid Pitt was a Polish-British actress and novelist. She appeared in Hammer horror movies during the 1960s and 1970s, with one of her roles being Alice Allison in Nobody Ordered Love.

Ingrid was married three different times. Once to an American GI named Laud Roland Pitt, Jr., then to George Pinches, a British film executive, and lastly to Tony Rudlin, a race car driver and actor. Steffanie Pitt-Blake, her daughter, is also an actress.

Ingrid believed that she first knew how to act in the Stutthof concentration camp, where she and her mom were sent. She would lie on the straw and just try and believe that she was somewhere else. It’s kind of amazing she did horror movies, she felt, seeing as how she had such a horrible childhood. But maybe that is why she was so good at it.

After a short time as a medical student, she became a member of Bertolt Brecht’s Berliner Ensemble theater company. When she got into a bit of trouble because she criticized the communist authorities, she escaped to the West, aided by Roland Pitt. After living for a time on a military base in Colorado, she divorced Roland and returned to Europe with Steffanie.

She was born on November 21, 1937, under the name of Ingoushka Petrov in Warsaw, Poland. She died on November 23, 2010, in a London hospital several days after she collapsed.

Life’s a Scream is the story of a survivor. When Ingrid was just 5 years old, she found herself in a concentration camp. She and her mom escaped from the guards as they were on a forced march and presented themselves to the partisans, unsure if they’d kill them. They spent the rest of the war in the forests. Ingrid fell in love for the very first time and watched in despair while British bombers were flying overhead. She still can’t see the vapor trails of planes without getting transported back to her childhood vigil.

After the war’s end, she arrived in London, where she developed her career as a Hammer House of Horror movie star; however, like she proudly said, she was always the biter, and never the bitten.

Ingrid also acted in mainstream pictures like Where Eagles Dare. She had a child from her first marriage and a grand passion that lead to her marrying a race car driver. They lived in Argentina for a spell and were good friends of Isabel Peron and President Peron. Ingrid even spent one evening with the embalmed body of Eva Peron.

Written with great warmth and passion, here is a rare childhood memoir and the story of Hammer’s most glamorous actress.
