Whenever one of my friends tries to convince me to read historical fiction, I always tell them that I already have a favorite historical fiction author, and she’s the only one I want to give my money to.
I say that because I don’t like historical fiction, and I have no interest in giving the genre a chance. But I always neglect to reveal that the historical fiction author in question is Hannah Howell.
Honestly, I have no idea if her books count as historical fiction. I know they are set centuries in the past, but I don’t know if they occur in a real era of history or if Howell’s settings and periods are entirely fictional. FYI, I know nothing about history.
It doesn’t matter. Her books are always engaging. Some of the plots are ridiculous, but Howell makes them believable. I can always trust her to entertain me.
