Guinevere de la Mare
Mare attended University of California, Berkeley where they received a BA in History of Art and California College of the Arts where they received a MA in Visual & Critical Studies.
Guinevere de la Mare made their debut as a published author as a contributing essayist in
The Who, The What, and The When: 65 Artists Illustrate the Secret Sidekicks of History. They would later contribute to an anthology once again in
I’d Rather be Reading: A Library of Art for Book Lovers.
In addition to their published writing, de la Mare has also worked as a UX writer for Google. Their work at Google is on the Fuchsia development team. Fuchsia is an open source operating system, and their work on it includes UI writing, project management, style guidelines, product inclusion, and editorial direction.
One thing you may know Guinevere de la Mare from is as a cofounder of the Silent Book Club, a global community with over 100K book lovers. They target readers who enjoy reading quietly in the company of other people. There are chapters in over two hundred cities, and it continues to grow. The work that Guinevere has done with the Silent Book Club has been featured in The Guardian, O, The Oprah Magazine, the New York Times, and other major publications. The club was founded with Laura Gluhanich.
Guinevere also previously worked as the Head of Content at Storybird. While working there, de la Mare produced online courses, videos, and curriculum for young writers. Educators across the globe use the writing and educational tool.
de la Mare also spent eight years working at Chronicle Books. First, they started as a copywriter and then moved up to the role of Senior Community Manager. In this role, Guinevere led the marketing for the brand, handled social media campaigns, and edited the Chronicle Books blog.
The author attended the University of California, Berkeley, where they graduated Summa Cum Laude, earning a BA in History of Art. They would then continue their education at California College of the Arts, where they earned a Visual & Critical Studies MA.
