Enrique Fernández
Enrique Fernández was born on December 25th, 1975 and is currently 49 years old. Enrique Fernández was born in Barcelona, Spain.
Enrique Fernández is a Spanish comic book creator. He’s popularly known for the
Enrique Fernández Graphic Novels series which began in 2008 with
La Mère Des Victoires.
His book,
Brigada is a large-format graphic novel that brings together three volumes in one omnibus. It also includes extra content such as character sketches, step-by-step artwork showing the creative process, and a black-and-white storyboard for the third volume.
This was the first independent project by Enrique Fernández, where he worked as both writer and artist. Before
Brigada, he mainly contributed artwork to titles such as
Libertadores,
Le Magicien d’Oz,
La Mère des Victoires,
L’Île sans sourire,
Les Contes de l’ère du Cobra, and
Aurore.
The story takes place in a land trapped in fear of a mysterious figure called Vòarander. According to legend, he brought a heavy fog that covers the entire country. Some believe he is a beast, others a god, but no one knows for sure. What people do know is that anyone who enters the fog is lost forever. It all begins with a character whose father tried to uncover the truth behind the fog and died in the process.
At the center of the story is a group of fierce dwarves. Their leader, Captain Ivro, is a veteran soldier tasked with commanding them during a war against the dark elves. During a battle, the fog appears and separates them. This leaves them trapped in a strange and dangerous land. Along the way, they must fight off strange creatures, witches, dark elves, and confront the power of a mysterious well, all while the shadow of Vòarander looms over them.
The action scenes are some of the strongest parts of the book. The battles are fast, violent, and full of energy, with Fernández using sound effects directly within the artwork to make the pages more dynamic. The contrast between the small dwarves and the huge monsters or elves creates a powerful visual effect.
The artwork is consistently impressive and unique to this book. The colors are bright and bold without being overwhelming to the readers. Character designs are particularly striking, with sharp and angular features that resemble the moai statues of Easter Island, giving them a unique and memorable style.
In summary,
Brigada is a graphic novel that captivates with its artwork and presentation. The story may not always feel smooth, but the stunning visuals, intense battle sequences, and high-quality edition make it a standout work in fantasy comics.
