Ellery’s an author that I would read without even knowing what the novel is about. She writes characters that feel like anybody we actually know. There’s always multiple storylines going at once, and Ellery’s work includes more depth than the typical cozy mystery. Her Supper Club novels feature the most chuckles but Books By the Bay is probably my favorite of what she writes.
Sheldon is one of the best and unique characters. His creative window displays, perspective on life, and coffee. The man is steady as a rock and no nonsense in his friendship with Nora, and is still vulnerable without being weak and dependable.
I came to read Ellery when my local book store recommended “The Secret Book And Scone Society”. I was hesitant at first, but this turned out to be one of the very best mysteries I read all year. I became an instant fan and devoured the rest of the series.
I came upon this list of books after looking to see what other series she wrote and it looks like I have plenty to choose from.
Ellery Adams won me over with the ‘Secret, Book and Scone Society” series. I love books that tell stories in which books play a significant role. I vaguely remember another mystery series in which the main character matches each person with the perfect book.
I can’t believe I forgot the name of the series as well as the author’s name. I was obsessed with those novels just two years ago. I guess it just goes to show how much I’ve read since then. My brain doesn’t have room for every single author I come across.
At any rate, Ellery is a decent replacement. Her characters use books to help other people, which is an interesting concept.
