Eileen Fulton

Eileen Fulton (Margaret Elizabeth McLarty) was born on September 13th, 1933. Eileen passed away July 14th, 2025 at 91 years old. Eileen Fulton was born in Asheville, NC, USA. Fulton attended Greensboro College.

Eileen Fulton was best known as one of the most dynamic singers, actresses, and authors who acted in As The World Turns, the soap opera on CBS, for several decades.

It was in New York that she launched her career, where she quickly became popular in film and theater. In 1960, she acted the character Lisa Miller, and the multiple marriages and dramatic storylines of the show made her very popular during the run of the show.

Fulton portrayed Lisa as a villain, which was a very bold choice as it helped to make this one of the most loved characters in daytime television history. When she was just starting, she held several roles, including appearances in The Fantasticks and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf on Broadway.

Besides her career as an actor, she had a creative and rich life and performed cabaret in Los Angeles and New York, even as she co-authored two autobiographies.

Eileen Fulton remained active in entertainment until 2019, when she retired. She would then move to Black Mountain in North Carolina, and following declining health, she passed on in 2025.

Eileen Fulton published her debut novel, Take One for Murder, in 1988.

It tells the story of Nina McFall, a soap opera actress, and Dino Rossi, a detective, who are solving a murder that happened in a TV studio. Fulton, who made her name in As the World Turns, makes use of her experience to explain the drama, glamorous sets, and life backstage.

It is a story that combines romance and suspense with insider insights from the world of daytime TV.

In the same year, Eileen Fulton published the work Death of a Golden Girl.

This one, yet again, follows Nina McFall, who is excited when she learns that one of her friends named May Minton, has been offered a small role in an upcoming film. But when she arrives to celebrate he news, she finds May dead and cannot help but try to help in the investigation into the murder.

She works with Dino Rossi, the detective, in an investigation that combines a thrilling mystery, TV glamour, and backstage drama, as they go after a cunning killer. It is not long before her curiosity and courage unearth some dark secrets.

In 1996, she got into nonfiction in the work As My World Still Turns, in which she shares many stories from her life as a performer and soap opera star.

She tells of her time playing Lisa Grimaldi on As the World Turns and the drama behind her character's trials and achievements. She also talks of her experiences behind the scenes and backstage to offer a peek into the real Eileen over several decades of her career.
