Dick Morris
Dick Morris (Richard Samuel Morris) was born on November 28th, 1948 and is currently 77 years old. Dick Morris was born in New York City, New York, USA. Morris attended Columbia University where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Dick Morris is an American commentator, author, and a former political consultant. He was a Republican consultant before joining the Clinton administration. He helped advised Clinton to adopt Dick Morris moderate policies, which helped result in Clinton overcoming Republican Revolution. Morris is an author of several books and some has co-authored with his wife, Eileen McGann. He wrote
Condi vs. Hillary, where he affirms that only Condoleezza Rice could have blocked Clinton’s 2008 race for the White House.
Morris’s book
Rewriting History published in 2004 is a rebuttal to Clinton’s book
Living History in which he argues Hillary Clinton has presented a nice persona. However, in his book, Morris argues that he remembers Hillary as a cold and manipulative thirsty for power. Morris also co-authored
Because He Could which was a response to
My Life memoir by Bill Clinton.
Rewriting History exposes the history of obfuscations and lies Clinton left in her wake. The book was a bestseller and considered one of the best books by Dick Morris.
Morris was a long time and trusted advisor to both Clintons. Through this book, readers get a sharp-eyed glimpse on the former first lady, Hilary Clinton. He argued that no one in the American history was better aligned to become president in 2008 and no candidate would have brought more baggage to the White House other than Mrs. Clinton. Morris draws from his long professional relationship with the Clintons as well as his deep research and the deep non-biased analysis. Through all these, he keenly pierces Hillary’s mask and gets the truth behind omissions left out of her memoir.
Morris’s book reveals to us the real Hillary and we get to see the bad and the good side. We get to see the manager who ensures that trains run on time but also get to see the paranoid person who views all those with views against her as personal enemies. Morris argues that Hilary is an idealist on one hand but also an “advice addict” on the other hand. He describes Hilary’s sense of entitlement and warns the readers that it may result into a deeper financial scandal.
He clearly demonstrates how Hillary avoids criticism by arguing that every attack is not just aimed at her but also to all the working women in America.
In the end, Morris argues that Hilary has the ultimate choice to make. Like Bobby Kennedy, will she accept the mistake of her ruthless ways and accept honest idealism she champions? Or like Richard Nixon, will the dark side of her nature overpower her and put herself and the country in jeopardy?
Just as the book title suggests, we can only hope that history never repeats itself. But overall,
Rewriting History is a recommended read for political buffs. Dick Morris credibility comes from his years of work with politicians and his personal and professional interactions with the Clintons before and during Bill Clinton’s presidency.
