Diana Wynne Jones: TV/Movies Based on Books
Diana had a few of her works adapted into TV series. The first one being Archer's Goon which was based on the book with the same name. The TV series aired in 1992 and had one season with six episodes. The series was nominated for a BAFTA award. The second series was Jackanory which was an extensive series that originally aired between 1965 and 1996 was based on a lot of different writers' stories but that episodes that were based on Diana's stories were, a total of fifteen episodes that aired in 1974, 1976, and 1977 titled The Ogre Downstairs: Part 1 - 5 which was based off the story of the same name, Cart and Cwidder: Part 1 - 5 which was based off the story of the same name, and Charmed Life: Part 1 which was also based off the story of the same name.
Diana had a few of her works adapted in movies. One was titled Earwig and the Witch based on the story of the same name. The theatrical release was in 2021 and received mixed reviews. Another movie that was adapted from one of her stories was Howl's Moving Castle which was loosely based on the novel of the same name. It was released in 2004 and won several awards including four Tokyo Anime Awards and a Nebula Award for Best Script.
