Growing up in Canada, he always loved music and dreamed of one day making it big as a musical artist. He loved connecting with people who loved loud music and had a sense of chaotic fun and it was from this that he connected with friends who loved to play music and together they founded Sum 41.
Deryck also takes his readers backstage through the highs and lows of the band, and into the recording booth, as he tells the stories of the band, which are inextricably linked with his own.
