Every time I read the premise of a Denise Hunter novel, I feel like I’m reading the back of a Hallmark movie DVD. I guess I’m showing my age. No one watches DVDs these days.
The Hallmark comment sounds like an insult, and in most cases, it would be. I can’t stand those movies. They are too syrupy for my taste. But Denise is the one exception to that rule. Maybe it’s because her books are not only clean but Christian-themed. And as a Christian, I can’t find entertaining Christian romance.
Most Christian authors are too preachy. The biblical message gets in the way of the romance. But Denise is a balanced storyteller.
